Soil and Water Analysis
GINGKO GROUNDWATER AND GEOLOGY embraces the philosophy of Gaia, the Greek goddess of the Earth. This philosophy relates that all plants and creatures on the planet adapt the environment in order to make it better suitable for life itself. The recognition of this holistic connectedness of life is combined with the clear understanding that geology underlies everything, and that the rocks, soils and groundwater are all part of this same system.

Using science to better understand this interconnectivity allows us to better advise our clients on more sustainable and appropriate groundwater management systems, soil preservation and enhanced productivity interventions, as well as to guide on which plants or crops should be considered for establishing in the garden itself.
GINGKO GROUNDWATER AND GEOLOGY provides a range of services in this field. These include assessment, review and recommendations regarding underlying geology and structure of the area, soils, and groundwater.
Geology

Understanding of the type of rocks as well as the structures which exist in any area can provide important information early on in any sustainable development planning. These can range from identification of best areas for house and building placement, to the identification of potential geohazards such as sinkholes or earthquake loci.

Soil
​
Soils are a reflection of the rocks which weather to form the soil itself. An understanding of the chemical composition of the rocks will therefore lead to an appreciation of the soils and therefore in context of Gaia Philosophy will allow an informed indication on what crops or plants will be best suited to the garden to be made.

Groundwater
​
Direct interventions include assessment of groundwater tables, ground water composition, groundwater inflow and circulation and well as advice on abstraction from groundwater sources. This may include pumping from boreholes where we can provide limits to sustainable abstraction and recharge as well as integration of all parts of the water supply from source to ultimate use.
